How are overnight shifts calculated? +
When the end time is earlier than the start time the calculator treats the shift as crossing midnight and adds 24 hours before subtracting the break.
Should breaks be paid? +
In care a 20-minute rest break is usually paid, while longer meal breaks may be unpaid if the worker is genuinely free from duties. Apply your contract and the Working Time Regulations.
